TOPIC: The correlation between motivation and students’ learning outcomes

ABSTRACT

In this topic, the author will mention about the correlation between motivation and students’ learning outcomes. The report will include: the survey, questionnaire to analyze the data for each questions. From the survey, the author can draw the best method for teaching English in the class, elements of motivation for students to learn English better. The details will be analyzed in the body below.

1/INTRODUCTION

Nowadays, learning second language is very popular all over the world. In Vietnam, Vietnamese is the mother tongue, Vietnamese students want to learn English as a second language to use in their learning and working. With this purpose, Vietnam educational system organized to teach English in schools such as: primary schools, secondary schools, high school and the university. Vietnamese students always want to learn English with professional teachers, professional teachers graduated from foreign language universities or studied abroad. These English teachers approached new methods for teaching English, teachers can apply these methods for teaching students about materials, motivation, competence and skills in English for Vietnamese students. With the topic: the correlation between motivation and student’s learning outcomes, the author will research about how to motivate student to learn language effectively? The author will conduct the survey by collect data, analyze the data in the body below.

2/LITERATURE REVIEW

The literature review helps us have much information about what we need to research. It also helps us to make a comparison to find the suitable information. Researcher can analyze the impacts of product variant on the specified market. It is an opportunity to examine and monitor the physical evidences/results of launching a product variant. So the author use some evident to reference for the research.

Grade Twelve, July 1999: “English – language Development Standards for California Public schools’ book, it is an overview of the summary indicates the English – language what students must know and be able to do as they move toward full fluency in English.

National Geographic Magazine 1918: “methods of Learning English”, they are tips for Acquiring language skills for the non – native speaker such as reading to learn English, research project, watch English movies and television, listening and observing the English language, these are useful for students.

Clement, R. and B. Kruidenier, 1985: aptitude and motivation in second language proficiency: a test of Clément’s model. This article presents a test of Clément’s model of second language proficiency using the causal modelling technique. All data pertaining to attitudes, aptitude, and motivation about second language.

Vilfredo Pareto, 1906: this rule is applied in so many fields and in its simplest form, basically states that you get 80% of the result from 20% of the work. Refer to studying English process, based on 80/20 rule, the students only need 20% vocabularies in 80% all remain vocabularies to speaking English fluently.
